Mad For Tweed Part 2 – MyUniqueen.com Malang Jacket

I finally got the Malang jacket from Myuniqueen.com in a size Medium. I first ordered a Small which the sleeves did not fit my arms. It was too tight. Jean from Extrapetite.com did a review on the jacket and I fell in love with it. I decided to wear a form fitting black dress that is work appropriate along with the jacket to see how it will look.

Dress: BCBGMAXAZRIA LBD
Jacket: Malang Jacket from Myuniqueen.com
Shoes: AT Perfect Leather Pumps

The jacket is quite comfy and it is the right length on me. It’s not thin as the Yesstyle.com Tweed jacket in my previous post. I was surprised to see how much thicker it is. If you check out Jean’s post on the Malang, she notes the size and measurements of the jacket. But there is one difference I saw from her post. She has a picture of the lining. Hers show a shiny satiny lining. The jacket I got has a quilted lining that it a bit matted. There are top and bottom pockets large enough to put in my car and house keys. As noted by Jean, this jacket is an open style that just hangs wide. I am considering putting in a hook closure.

This is another outfit I wore with the Tweed Jacket. The weather was 60 degrees all day and dipped to the 40s at night. I was still warm because of the jacket. My turtleneck from Diane Von Furstenburg however was very thin and sheer (had to wear a nude cami underneath). I was glad I paired it with the jacket.

Overall regarding the Tweed Jacket, I think it will be staple in my wardrobe.

I'm a mom of 2 girls. I struggled to lose the baby weight the second time around and by blogging my struggles helped me deal with a lot of the stress. During my struggles, I had random strangers ask me "How far along are you?" or "When are you due?" I was embarrassed. Most of the time I told them the truth, that I had given birth X months before. There were a couple of times I lied and said what they wanted to hear. When I was at a normal weight, I then struggled to find what clothes fit me. Everything about fashion went out the door and I had to re-learn what clothes and sizes fit my post pregnancy body the 2nd time around.

Oh how I love tweed/boucle jackets! So far I own two, plus this ghettolicious sweater-wannabe-tweed thing from Express that’s cheaply made but totally works for a casual day. You can’t really cheap out on the tweed look though. The jacket you have here is amazing – color, style and cut are perfect! I have a similar one from T-Bags, except it has these giant turquoise buttons on them, so the aesthetic is different. I’m not crazy about open jackets, but for some reason, this one looks perfectly fine open. You could always belt it, too, maybe with like a vintage stretchy snake belt? For $92 I think this little number is a great investment. I’m trying to figure out if S or M is more appropriate for me – I’m usually a size 2 but I have broad shoulders and a wider bust. Hmmm…

Also, I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger of the Year, if you want to check out my latest post. Lastly, happy holidays to you and your family! 🙂

Thank you so much for your praise! I’m totally going to find a belt and see how that works out. Great tip!

    Hi,

Do you happen to have the exact measurements for the malang tweed jacket in medium? I am looking into buying off of ebay but wanted to make sure it will fit since uniqueen sizing seem to be different. By the way do you have the quilted lining? Id appreciate your help! 🙂

      Hi Linda,

      The Malang’s measurements are:

      15″ Shoulder to Shoulder
      18″ Bust
      17″ Waist
      20″ Length
      23″ Arm Length

I would go by your Shoulder to Shoulder measurements. Mine is 15″ wide. When I purchased the Malang in Small, it fit Shoulder to Shoulder but my arms couldn’t fit through the sleeves! I do have the quilted lining.

      Thanks,
      Helen
