Tops: J. Crew Factory Camp Shirt, Banana Republic Factory Trench
Bottom: J. Crew Factory No. 2 Pencil Skirt
Shoes: Ann Taylor Perfect Leather Pumps

Happy Valentine’s Day! I have been wearing this Banana Republic Trench everywhere! Not only is it lightweight, it is very warm and serves as a great raincoat. Houston has been cloudy with rain for the past several weeks. We thoroughly need some rain since we are still in a drought.

With cloudy skies, it’s been hard to dress upbeat and fun. So for Valentine’s Day, I want to wear something new and bright. My extremely loud pink J. Crew Pencil Skirt combined with a J. Crew Camp skirt are what I was looking for. I do like the color combo.

I paired the outfit with my Ann Taylor Perfect Leather pumps in Black, but I wish I had found a different color. I have black shoes for boots, pumps, sandals, and flats. I need a variation.

What color shoes should I purchase for this outfit? Pink, Red, what?

I'm a mom of 2 girls. I struggled to lose the baby weight the second time around and by blogging my struggles helped me deal with a lot of the stress. During my struggles, I had random strangers ask me "How far along are you?" or "When are you due?" I was embarrassed. Most of the time I told them the truth, that I had given birth X months before. There were a couple of times I lied and said what they wanted to hear. When I was at a normal weight, I then struggled to find what clothes fit me. Everything about fashion went out the door and I had to re-learn what clothes and sizes fit my post pregnancy body the 2nd time around.

I have more black shoes and handbags than anything else Helen! I know the feeling. Love the skirt, I never find great deals at the j.crew outlet, need to look there more often 🙂 We have been getting statue sized artworks in Chicago, so Marilyn is temporary. Prior to her debut it was American Gothic…

I do not want anything black besides black leather pants. My goal for this year.

I also like the black shoes. Have you considered nude shoes?

I have considered nude shoes but I haven’t found the right pair yet. I have been looking at these Jessica Simpson ones but I don’t know if I should just splurge and get CLs.

OMG that skirt! Love it. I think I got the mini version of it a few weeks ago – it’s that fun textured material in the vibrant coral. Can’t wait for spring so I can rock that fabulous color. Also, every working girl should have a classic khaki trench! 🙂

I saw the mini version of it. But it was sold out in my size. I’m loving this trench. I had a black trench by Express from like 15 years ago. I wore it to the ground (the whole lining is ripped down the back and you can see the thinsulate). I loved that trench so much I couldn’t find one to replace it. I still have that black trench. I might just replace the lining.
