Day 4

Today I became very hungry at the end of the day. But I’m pretty sure I’m losing weight. My jeans are starting to fit me again rather than be too tight. I was also able to button my jeans.

Breakfast; scrambled eggs with steamed spinach and whole wheat toast.
Rating: it was okay. The eggs filled me up and I was surprised that the spinach had a good balance with the eggs and toast.

Lunch: Philly cheese steak wrap
Rating: I liked the mushrooms though the steak was kind of tough.

Dinner: cod with corn and bean purée
Rating: dud not eat tonight. Went out for dinner

Snack 1: mandarin duck pancakes
Rating: different. It was grounded duck with a round wheat tortilla. Taste was okay. Duck does not taste like beef

Snack 2: sugar free cinnamon coffee cake.
Rating: sugar free?! Really? Tasted like it had sugar. More cinnamon than coffee taste. Wasn’t a cake slice more like muffin sized. I cheated and had it with a glass of milk.

Overall okay day but I didn’t eat dinner but went out for dinner. I feel a bit guilty for cheating.

Day 3

I am usually off on Wednesdays but had to work. I was in a rush but with the Fresh Diet I was able to have some breakfast.

Breakfast: mandarin orange ricotta cheese crepes with fresh strawberries
Rating: since I didn’t like ricotta from day 2 I wasn’t expecting to like the crepes. I was mistaken because after heating the crepes for 30 seconds it melted and was really creamy. The strawberries added sweetness to the meal.

Lunch: country ham caesar salad with cherry tomatoes
Rating: I was starving by lunch that I scarfed this meal down. So it must have been good.

Dinner: roasted leg of lamb with red wine and shallot sauce. Baby bok Chou and eggplant
Rating: really good. I don’t prefer lamb but it good though chewy. The sauce makes the meal better and more flavorful.

Snack 1: mushroom stuffed with Cajun shrimp
Rating: I got 3!!! Delicious and spicy

Snack 2: artichoke bottoms with garlic cauliflower
Rating: cauliflower tasted like potatoes without the carbs. That’s a good thing.

Overall very good day but I’m hungry all the time. I didn’t cheat yesterday with anything. So progress!

Day 2

I started today at 6:30am but did not get to eat until 8:30am. The time was spent feeding my 7month old baby and giving her a bath. So here’s what I had:

Breakfast: multi grain pancakes with mango ricotta cheese and fresh pear
Rating: pancakes were dry and bland. I’m not a fan of ricotta cheese outside of pasta dishes. The pears did make the taste more pleasing.

Lunch: whole wheat pizza Alfredo with portabella mushroom & pepper jack cheese.
Rating: to die for. The creamy Alfredo to the kick of pepper and to the sweet juiciness of the mushroom

Dinner: grilled chicken breasts with apricot curry sauce with spaghetti squab and asparagus.
Rating: very well made. Tender chicken medallions with a mild curry sauce.

Snack 1: whole wheat beef ravioli with sub dried tomato pesto
Rating: amazing! I had it with my dinner and the pesto with the curry sauce…love it!

Snack 2: pineapple coconut muffin
Rating: sweeter than I expected but real pineapple chunks and real coconut shavings. Nice sized muffin.

Overall I enjoyed everything except breakfast. Though I was starving after lunch that I ate 3 breadsticks and a slice of pepperoni pizza.

Can’t wait for tomorrow. There’s leg of lamb for dinner!!!

Day 1

The food is here and here is the break down.

Breakfast: Portabella Egg Bake and Papaya
Rating: Good size for breakfast. Delicious egg bake. I thought it looked bland but the portabellas brought a lot of flavor. And the papaya was sweet and juicy

Lunch: Grilled shrimp salad with cherry tomatoes and ranch dressing
Rating: pretty good. It’s what I would have ordered for lunch if I had Applebees. Shrimp had that grilled taste, not too seasoned but had enough taste and texture. Salad was browning a little in some leaves.

Snack 1: beef stuffed portabella mushroom
Rating: good but there was only 1!

Dinner: turkey breast with shallot sauce angel hair pasta and roasted red beets
Rating: portions are smaller than what I normally eat but surprisingly filling. Turkey looked dry but was juicy after heating it up. Pasta was a bit under cooked. Beets were tasty.

Snack 2: pineapple cheesecake.
Rating: pretty big piece. More than I expected. Good and not too sweet.

Overall I enjoyed the meals I had selected. One complaint- there were no heating instructions. I just guessed and hoped for the best.

Fresh Diet

I am really excited to start this new diet. I recently received a promotion in the mail from FreshDiet.com. Gourmet meals are delivered to my door every day that I want to. I purchased the 31 day plan so I get 31 days of prepared food delivered to my door!

Good thing because I love good food but hate to cook.

Menu
Fresh Diet 07/19/10 Menu

Here is the Menu for my 1st day on the diet. It looks really good and when I got it, the food came in a awesome cooler. The portions are adequate, not the super large portions like everywhere else. Hopefully everything tastes as good as it looks.

It was really easy to select what I want to eat for each day. I would get several selections to choose from for each meal and 2 snacks a day.

The program was easy to sign up and very easy to start scheduling the deliveries. The only problem I experienced was the delay in which I could log in to the account to schedule and select the foods. I think because I signed up at night around midnight. After waiting 30 minutes and still unable to log in, I just went to bed. But in the morning, I could log in with no problems. My account probably just needed to be verified and activated.

I have always wondered about these diets. Nutrisystem etc. But Fresh Diet caught my attention with their promo: $30 per day for 31 days. Originally $44.95 per day.

I have been working out and have been feeling great. Hopefully with the nutrition part out of the way, I can lose more weight and look healthier. My problem is that I recently had a baby. With 20 lbs left on my frame, my doctor recommended me to start losing the pounds asap. He really scared me to get back into shape. He told me “I just don’t want you to carry the extra weight for the rest of your life.”

I understand his concern. This is my 2nd child so he knows it’s harder to time manage everything into place. Many women put their health on the line because their main concern is their children. But if I lose this weight now, I won’t have to think about losing it again or until the next baby. =)
