Shopping » Zara Autumn 2014 Picks

I did not pick up anything during Zara’s bi-annual sale. I’m not a sale person – meaning I don’t go crazy and wait for a sale to happen. (Doesn’t mean, I don’t try and wait for a sale. I tend to buy and then the very next week there’s a sale.)

I was able to pick up some things in the Autumn 2014 collection that just began to pop up online. Some items caught my eye in a big way that I bit the bullet and way overindulged my shopping addiction. Unfortunately some items will be returned due to just bad sizing.

What I Kept
zara-blazer-zips

149.00 USD
This blazer is a polyester blend jacket with double zips as pockets on both sides. Unfortunately the pockets are fake. Otherwise, I purchased a Medium and it fit very well. It’s got padded shoulders that gives me a lift and I love the draped collar. The draped collar creates a relaxed yet polished look that I really like.

zara-pleated

39.90 USD
The hunter green color is absolutely beautiful for fall. The pleated details of the hem and bell sleeves are so feminine. The only problem I had with this top is the button loop closure in the back. It is tiny and so hard to button. But it’s an easy fix – just add a bigger/loose button loop. I didn’t even have a problem that this is a crop top. I purchased a Medium and it fit really well. The Medium is very true to size for me. It is a Zara slim fit at the torso.

zara-slipons

59.90 USD
I began to love these loafers/moccasins type shoes recently after over-wearing my heels for months and months. My feet were in bad shape. (Feet cramping up when wearing or not wearing heels). I pulled out my Shoemint rose gold loafers but the soles are a little rough on my arch. I fell in love with these Zara slip ons and they are so comfortable. The toe box is a little snug and my big toe indents through the top. Otherwise very roomy and comfy.

zara-weave-1

49.90 USD
This is a textured animal print that is lightweight with a flirty peplum hem. It is so cute. The back is a 4 button closure which I don’t even open. The neck opening is large enough to slip over your head. I first purchased a Medium – my usual size. But Medium was hanging on me. Small fit a lot better. So purchase a size down. Check out some more pics of this Weave Animal Print Top below.

What I Did NOT Keep

zara-boot-2

159.00 USD
I really wanted to love these almost knee high boots. They are super tight! I am a 7.5 and the heels fit but getting my feet into the boot was damn fucking hard. There is hardly a stretch to the shaft. The heel is supposed to be 3.35″ as stated online but to me it was 3.5″ high, shaft is 13″ high but the opening is only 4″ width (with no to very little stretch). Such a shame because it’s a beautiful boot. I personally do like the contrast of the leather heel and the faux leather shaft.

zara-silk-1

79.90 USD
Beautiful romantic top and it’s SILK! But it has an odd seam down the middle of the shirt. Go to Zara.com and zoom into the image. Zara tries to filter the seam out, but the zoomed photo you can see it. Another problem, the under side of the shirt is a half inch seam allowance on both sides. Therefore, the sheerness of the shirt makes the one inch of fabric exposed. BOO to Zara to filter the seam/fabric from the online images! I purchased a Medium but it is too large. The tulip/dolphin hem is awful and unflattering. Order a size down if you’re interested. Very awkward blouse.

I'm a mom of 2 girls. I struggled to lose the baby weight the second time around and by blogging my struggles helped me deal with a lot of the stress. During my struggles, I had random strangers ask me "How far along are you?" or "When are you due?" I was embarrassed. Most of the time I told them the truth, that I had given birth X months before. There were a couple of times I lied and said what they wanted to hear. When I was at a normal weight, I then struggled to find what clothes fit me. Everything about fashion went out the door and I had to re-learn what clothes and sizes fit my post pregnancy body the 2nd time around.
