My first experience shopping at H&M was in New York at its flagship store near Times Square. I remember perusing the store being completely overwhelmed. I purchased a striped white blazer that I frequently wore through my college years. There was no H&M in the south at the time. Thank goodness this has changed and now there’s 2 H&M stores in Houston and online shopping (my preferred method of shopping).
I like to add items to my shopping cart that interests me. This Loose Fit Pants in Leopard print caught my eye. When I received it, WOW. It blew my mind. It’s lightweight, with an elastic waistband, and it’s got POCKETS. It’s pretty much perfect for the transition from Summer to Fall. Unfortunately, it’s not on sale this Labor Day. But I will leave you with some items down below that are on sale or priced pretty nicely.

I did not pick up anything during Zara’s bi-annual sale. I’m not a sale person – meaning I don’t go crazy and wait for a sale to happen. (Doesn’t mean, I don’t try and wait for a sale. I tend to buy and then the very next week there’s a sale.)
I was able to pick up some things in the Autumn 2014 collection that just began to pop up online. Some items caught my eye in a big way that I bit the bullet and way overindulged my shopping addiction. Unfortunately some items will be returned due to just bad sizing.
This blazer is a polyester blend jacket with double zips as pockets on both sides. Unfortunately the pockets are fake. Otherwise, I purchased a Medium and it fit very well. It’s got padded shoulders that gives me a lift and I love the draped collar. The draped collar creates a relaxed yet polished look that I really like.
The hunter green color is absolutely beautiful for fall. The pleated details of the hem and bell sleeves are so feminine. The only problem I had with this top is the button loop closure in the back. It is tiny and so hard to button. But it’s an easy fix – just add a bigger/loose button loop. I didn’t even have a problem that this is a crop top. I purchased a Medium and it fit really well. The Medium is very true to size for me. It is a Zara slim fit at the torso.
I began to love these loafers/moccasins type shoes recently after over-wearing my heels for months and months. My feet were in bad shape. (Feet cramping up when wearing or not wearing heels). I pulled out my Shoemint rose gold loafers but the soles are a little rough on my arch. I fell in love with these Zara slip ons and they are so comfortable. The toe box is a little snug and my big toe indents through the top. Otherwise very roomy and comfy.
This is a textured animal print that is lightweight with a flirty peplum hem. It is so cute. The back is a 4 button closure which I don’t even open. The neck opening is large enough to slip over your head. I first purchased a Medium – my usual size. But Medium was hanging on me. Small fit a lot better. So purchase a size down. Check out some more pics of this Weave Animal Print Top below.
I really wanted to love these almost knee high boots. They are super tight! I am a 7.5 and the heels fit but getting my feet into the boot was damn fucking hard. There is hardly a stretch to the shaft. The heel is supposed to be 3.35″ as stated online but to me it was 3.5″ high, shaft is 13″ high but the opening is only 4″ width (with no to very little stretch). Such a shame because it’s a beautiful boot. I personally do like the contrast of the leather heel and the faux leather shaft.
Beautiful romantic top and it’s SILK! But it has an odd seam down the middle of the shirt. Go to Zara.com and zoom into the image. Zara tries to filter the seam out, but the zoomed photo you can see it. Another problem, the under side of the shirt is a half inch seam allowance on both sides. Therefore, the sheerness of the shirt makes the one inch of fabric exposed. BOO to Zara to filter the seam/fabric from the online images! I purchased a Medium but it is too large. The tulip/dolphin hem is awful and unflattering. Order a size down if you’re interested. Very awkward blouse.
I was contacted by Lover.ly, a website showcasing all things Wedding! It is such a beautiful site, filled with all the things a bride-to-be would need to plan her wedding. Lover.ly also has the option to shop for dresses, shoes, veils – you name it- right in the comfort of your home.
I was given 3 images of possible wedding locations and to style a wedding dress from Lover.ly to that setting. I chose the Beach Affair setting image as shown above.
The picture inspired me so much with it’s sea blue waters that I can imagine myself attending such a calm yet celebratory wedding along the beach. My personal style definitely pushed me into choosing a very minimalistic dress. I prefer a short and spunky looking dress for a Beach Affair wedding because of the laid back setting yet beautifully detailed similar to the rosettes on the dress. I imagine the bride who got married on a beach is carefree, low maintenance and a true romantic. She would probably be more focused on the decor, mood and how entertaining it would be. And I think that is why the bride would rather utilize accessories as accent pieces such as the embellished wedges (instead of pumps so she can walk on the sand easier), her jewelry and her bouquet. She would keep her dress to a minimum – it’s up to the little details to make a big impact.
Thank you Lover.ly for the opportunity. To readers, check out lover.ly’s dress shop at here, even if you’re not planning a wedding. It’s wonderful to just indulge in a bit of fantasy once in a while.
