Post Partum » Week 35 featuring the Cropped Cape

by dietingfashion on October 26, 2013

Totally loving this weather! (Except when it makes my kids sick.) It’s a cool day at 64 degrees. The sun is out, no more rain and out comes my turtlenecks and sweaters. My kind of weather.

I decided to reach for my Juicy Couture Cropped Cape today. I really like the high cut sides that makes the cape flare out. I forgot to take a picture of the lining which is a beautiful print of (I believe) Cherry Blossoms.

I have been exhausted lately. So exhausted I have not exercised or stayed dedicated on my Paleo diet. I try my best to stay grain free. Probably one meal a day, I’ll have something with grains. It’s just so easy to reach for something with grains like rice, pasta or bread.

Exercising at home or going to the gym has been nonexistent too. My gym membership expired so that’s been keeping me at home. That’s no longer the case since I just found out I could renew online. Awesome!

Faves » Beauty Picks of October 2013

5. Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation (here)

I found some great beauty products lately and I’d like to share some with everyone reading. After having a baby, my hair becomes really brittle. With my first two children, approximately 2 months after giving birth, my hair would fall out in clumps! With Annabelle, I took more care with my hair. I changed my shampoo (from Herbal Essence) to Clean Total Care Shampoo and I added Omega 3’s to my diet (lots of salmon and fish oil pills). I really think it has helped because my hair feels healthier and it’s not shedding at an extreme rate. The only complaint I have with this shampoo is that it makes my hair feel really ‘squeaky’ when I’m shampooing. *Tip: A way to lock in shine to your hair is by shocking your hair with cold water right before you exit the shower. I never do it until recently. I find that it really does make my hair shine more.

Since my hair has been really superb lately, I wanted to find more products that can help maintain the shine especially since I blow dry every time I shower. Going by many recommendations online and Lauren Conrad’s, I got Organix Moroccan Smooth Perfection Blow Out Cream. Just a dollop of cream, rub between both hands and run through my hair. I blow dry and the cream helps keep my hair and scalp from drying out 9no more dandruff). Later when my hair is dry, I tie up my hair with creaseless elastics. These are hair elastics that are ribbons. They don’t leave a weird crease in your hair. I always had that hair problem and I was not going to stop putting my hair in a ponytail.

I finally splurged and purchased a Chanel Le Vernis Nail Color in Quartz. It was a discontinued product from Spring/Summer 2012 but Chanel brought it back. I had wanted a darker nude shade for a while so when Chanel was having a complimentary Overnight Shipping for purchases $50 or more, I had to get it. The color is a dark nude, almost tan with shimmer. There are probably so many reviews online. Check out a review on The Beauty Look Book. Another purchase from Chanel was my usual Perfection Lumiere Foundation in Beige Rose. But I was surprised that Chanel had upped the SPF from 10 to 15. Did it maintain the same coverage? Not as quite. I feel like my foundation wore off a lot quicker than the previous Perfection Lumiere with SPF 10. There’s more shine on my T zone too. Or maybe this new baby is causing my skin to change? Sleep deprivation? I don’t know.

Lastly was a purchase at Target – Pixie Tinted Brilliance Balm in Radiant Rose. It goes on like a muted Hot Pink but eventually changes to a rosy pink on my lips. Very cool indeed.

Any recommendations for me to try next? I’m looking for a bronzer for the upcoming dreary winter. Keep me posted!

My gym membership expired and my kids have been sick for the last 3 weeks. Wow. Am I sleep deprived or what? I felt like I was a zombie. I barely ate until I felt like I was coming down with something. When your kids are sick, you forget to take care of yourself. Luckily, I live near so many restaurants that I’m able to pick up something to boost my energy and keep my immune system revving.

Unfortunately, I stopped my Paleo diet. I need to start it up again. If you follow me on Instagram (@dietingfashions), I have been taking pics of my grain free meals. I find that eating “clean” (no grains or beans) really helped me lose the weight so far.

I still have 12 more pounds. Hopefully I can lose the final 12 pounds by Christmas.

I had purchased this dress on Loft.com back in August. It was a bit tight but the extra 2 pounds I lost since then helped me fit in this dress. The dress is very demure but sassy with the stripes. I really like the pleated skirt because it helps to hide the tummy. The nipped in waistline defines my post partum waist instead of making me feel like a blob. The fabric is a stretchy material that is lined. I didn’t have to alter this dress. But I do feel the neckline to the armpits are a bit too tight on me. It’s not too uncomfortable. The sleeveless part of the dress is cut a bit too far back so my bra straps tend to give a peep show.

Overall I really like the dress and I think it’s going to be one of my favorites for a long time.
