Christmas 2012 » Holiday Outfit of The Day

Finally! It’s cold enough in Houston, Texas to actually bring out the winter clothes. It’s been a very mild winter here and I see all the blogs highlighting winter clothes like coats, boots, sweaters etc, but I couldn’t bring myself to wear all those things in high 70 degree weather.

Well, today Christmas Day, not only did Santa bring me a little some-something (see the Tiffany WOC) but he also brought his North Pole windy and cold weather. When I took these pictures, it was only 67 degrees but the wind made it feel like it was in the 50s. By morning tomorrow, it’s expected that we will received some SNOW! It doesn’t snow often here. Maybe every 3 or so years, we get an inch of snow. It is fun and my kids have been asking “Where’s the snow?”

At The Playground: Minty Jeans, Lace + Studs

My kids were being so bad today! They would not take their naps and kept wrestling with each other. My 4 year old has an inch scratch on her ankle while my 2 year old has a tiny split upper lip. They are both little girls but love to be rough with each other. This all happened in the name of “Fun.” Yes, they were squealing, laughing, jumping and rolling around. To get them to take a nap, I like any normal mom, bribed them. With a trip to the playground.

Top: Sabine Eyelash Lace Tank (here), and Stylekelly Studded Bolero
Bottoms: Green Pencil Jeans by LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls (here)
Shoes: Banana Republic Wedges (old)

My husband snapped these pictures just for fun. He used his Nikon point and shoot. Not bad picture quality. I miss being able to just put my camera in my purse and go. The DSLR is so bulky.

I did not realize my lace tank has knitted Eyelashes on it until I saw these pictures! It’s kinda freaky.

This bolero shrug came with a Stylekelly dress by way of Yesstyle. I still have not worn the dress. It’s a very simple, chic polka dotted dress. However lately, I only have been going to weddings and I would rather wear something a bit more “Fun.”

Thanks for reading!

This outfit is one of my favorite outfits to wear. I love casual wear because it’s just easy! There’s nothing hard about putting one layer over another. One is a neutral and one is a basic print. I need to master the art of layering but sometimes it’s just easy to dress how you normally dress. I dress for comfort and ease. I think as a mom, I have to resort to basics rather than mastering with leather jackets or midi skirts with pleated blouses. Ahhh, too confusing but doesn’t I won’t try.

What trend/style are you looking forward to try this year?

Banana Republic Factory Fitting Room Outfits – Part 2

My armful of clothing to the fitting also included this beautiful Faux Wrapped Dress. The material is stretchy and drapes like a wrapped dress but it really doesn’t. The wrapped dress look is great for hiding tummies and it also accentuates the waistline.

What I did not like about the dress was the deep V neck. Also the drape does not align with the hem of the dress. So you can see the inch or two of fabric dips below the hemline. That is one of my pet peeves.

I picked up this white creamy skirt. Straight cut with side pockets that I thought would not look good with my body. But I think the cut proved that it fits very well.

Another thumbs up is the striped sweater with metallic ribbons. The thin stripes totally makes my chest look ample and highlighted my waist along with the contrasting white skirt.

This Aline pleated skirt caught my eye because it looked like the Tibi Normandy skirt I had really wanted but couldn’t afford. The Banana Republic version featured a shorter length skirt opposed to the midi style of the Tibi skirt. The BR skirt had a brown floral against black while Tibi skirt was light brown against navy.

This skirt also went well with the stripes sweater. I was very pleased with my shopping success. What surprised me was the abundance selection in the petites section. I am 5’6″ not considered Petite but somehow the petite sizing works with my body. I was always frustrated that Regular Banana Republic sizing was so frumpy on me. I believe now I would shop more in the petites section.

I did not purchase anything from this shopping excursion, due to a crying baby. My little Emma decided to get cranky so I had to put off my purchase. I will be going to Biloxi, MS soon and I know the BR outlet there is a really good one. Hopefully there will be better pricing.
