Open Knit » Dip Dye + Striped Fedora

by dietingfashion on July 11, 2012

After this Free People sweater post, my search for an affordable open knit sweater continued. I noticed this Spring and Summer the whole beach fun with the open knit wraps and shirts are picking up momentum.

This sweater is from LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls and what a beautiful top. The dip dye look is also very trendy and I adore the color. I think this top is also available in blue. The quality is okay. It is a lot softer to the touch compared to the Free People sweater. I have noticed that some threads are knotted oddly with the strands frayed and un-tucked into the stitching. Otherwise, not much else to complain. This sweater is loose fitted just the way I like it. Great with crops and sandals, and perfect for a stroll or playing around.

Crave » The Casual Tote

by dietingfashion on July 8, 2012

It’s not always about the brand that makes a great tote. It’s not the designer or how luxurious it is. I can be happy with a $20 tote or a $200 tote. As a mom, I think totes are the most efficient bags. I cannot fit a sippy cup in my Classic 2.55 Medium handbag. I cannot fit a change of clothes for both my girls in my Louis Vuitton Speedy 25 (it does come close).

As my girls grow up, I find myself looking for a larger casual tote. One that I can upgrade from my very sturdy Coach Madison OP Art Sateen Maggie Bag.

I know the Hermes will be a great investment and I find it in the right price range (pre-owned). Another one that I really have my eye on is the Pour La Victoire Lucca Overnight tote. This tote looks almost similar to a Longchamps Planetes Tonal tote.

Is there a tote you recommend?

Kimono Cardigan » My New Obsession

by dietingfashion on July 6, 2012

Ever since Nicole Richie reinvented herself, her Winter Kate clothing line has inspired so many boho fashion designers. I had always wanted her drapey kimono cardigan (see here and here). The lightweight floral design seem to fit Nicole’s new persona – the easy, laidback boho mom. She’s no longer angst but chic and calm. Wandering around Kohls, I came across this LC Lauren Conrad Floral Chiffon Cardigan. For $28, I thought “Wow, a la Nicole Richie for a 1/10 the price!”

Bottoms: A/X Jeggings (very similar here at half the price)

4th of July » Cropped Trench Cape

by dietingfashion on July 4, 2012

Happy Fourth of July! I hope everyone is having a great time with a mid-week day off. So rare right? Rare like this Stella McCartney Trench Cape that has been on my radar for a while now. I have seen it on Anh from 9to5chic.com and now the lovely Wendy from Wendyslookbook.com.

My search ended on Ebay but not with the Stella McCartney trench cape. It’s a look a like in a different color.

The cropped trench is very cute with a 3/4 sleeve rather than long sleeves. And it is a thin cotton trench not as high quality as the Stella McCartney trench. I do like the color and the sizing is all right. There are some thread snags already. But I get what I paid for. I just love the look of a cropped trench and the pleated back with the curved sides.

I have found a super look a like of the Stella McCartney Trench here at a fraction of the cost. I purchased it but haven’t put together an outfit yet. It’s been too hot to even try to wear it. I rather wear the Ebay Chinese replica trench because it’s just a lot thinner and more appropriate for the Texas weather right now. People already think I’m crazy for wearing a jacket but with the rainy weather lately, my neighbors haven’t been giving me the weird eye look.
