1st Purchase of 2015» Fitness Wear

by dietingfashion on January 5, 2015

LOL. My 1st purchases of the year were fitness clothes. Last year, I cleaned out my closet and noticed my fitness wear were all yoga pants and t-shirts I have had since college. I donated those clothes and decided to just buy fitness clothes from Gap. Gap has a line of fitness wear that’s moderately priced and their line is Gapfit. I think it’s only available to women. I know that Gap has a athletic wear brand Athleta that’s more pricey. I think it’s to compete with Lululemon (which I have not purchased from). Lululemon just seems too pricey and I have been hearing such negative HR practices and subpar reviews on their products that I am not interested in their products.

If you disagree, drop me a comment and let me know what I should be looking at Lululemon.

Well 2 Gapfit gfast leggings purchases later and I’m a little disappointed. The leggings lasted about 5 months before “slippage” started to happen. “Slippage” is what I term when an article of clothing starts to slide down my body and won’t stay in place. Any running, movement causes the leggings to slip and expose body parts. About the 10th month mark, the leggings attracted so much lint! It’s probably 1 year since I purchased those leggings and I’m ready to retire them.

I purchased from Nike.com and Boston brand CraneandLion.com. Crane and Lion was on my Facebook ad space and I thought it was cool. Clicked on the site and was really drawn to the clothing and the minimalistic styles. The colors are soothing and relaxing. Exactly what I was looking for.

See what I purchased:

Zip-Up Jacket Capri Tight
Short Sleeve Tee Lightweight Tight

End of the Year » Merry Christmas to All!

by dietingfashion on December 25, 2014

xmas2014I’m glad 2014 is ending. It has not been a great year for my family.

– In February 2014, my eldest daughter was diagnosed with lymphatic malformation behind her ear. A lymph node behind her ear is malformed. It would swell up with cysts that are filled with blood. The size of it will vary with her growth. That means the older she gets the bigger the swelling. It is currently a golf ball size. It does go away after 6-8 weeks, but it will last her entire life. It gets worst when she hits puberty. She cannot take birth control due to the increase in hormones and she will live with flare ups while menstruating and pregnancy. Lymphatic malformation is not life threatening but only when it gets infected.

– April 2014, my dad wrecked his car. He was not injured but the car was totaled.

– July 2014, my husband’s grandfather died at the age of 91 (1 more month til 92).

– September 2014, my mom began to feel ill. She was scared to go to the doctor and procrastinated.

– October 2014, my mom suffered a heart attack. She was told to undergo triple bypass surgery. She refused and I was extremely stressed.

– November 2014, my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer. It has not spread to her liver or lung but the cancer is very large. She refused surgery and is self treating herself.

– December 2014, two of my daughters get the flu. My eldest daughter has a flare up of the lymph node. It is hard and filled with blood. It’s not painful but there’s pressure and itchiness from the swelling. My mom has been self treating with B17 Apricot Seeds. She feels good on it but she has a very acidic taste in her mouth all the time. We are trying to balance her diet out.

I do wish to follow through on several resolutions for the New Year.

1. Learn to cook different meals for my kids and husband. Health makes the family whole.

2. Find a way to lessen stress of my mom.

3. Be better at time management to help my mom but not forget my kids and husband.

These are more like goals rather than resolutions.

What do you want to change or conquer in 2015?

Style » Texture Weave Peplum + Stretch Pants

by dietingfashion on October 15, 2014

weavepeplum

Zara Weave Printed Top – size Small
Retails: $49.90
J. Crew Factory Gigi Stretch Pants – size 6
$44.00
Ann Taylor Kamela Wedges – size 7.5
old (similar here)
This has been my go to outfit for the past 2 months.
I love this outfit. The top is so cute and flirty with the peplum. It has a fun texture that is casual but can be dressed up professional for work. I first got my usual Zara size Medium but it was too baggy. I would suggest sizing down for this top. Other pluses are the print and material – does not wrinkle! Easy to put on quickly and walk out the door. The pants are super stretchy. They feel like leggings only thicker fabric. J. Crew pants are always higher quality. The Gigi Pants have snagged, ripped, or bent out of shape. It holds up pretty well and can be machine washable.

Discount tip: Retail price is $44, but I got it for $30! My sister in law purchased it using her College ID. If you don’t have a College ID, you can use your college email to get the discount. If you don’t have one, borrow one from someone. I believe it’s an additional 15% off.

Any discount tips for any other stores? Comment below!

infinityring

Gorjana Infinity II Ring in Gold
Retail Price: $40
Member Price: $32
Beautiful rings, very dainty but feels flimsy. I do believe Gorjana jewelry are usually not quite as sturdy as some other jewelry brands out there. I would love to constantly wear this piece but I believe it would not hold up very well with my day to day.
lolaspike

Urban Gem Lola Spiked Earrings
Retail Price: $30
Member Price: $24
Though I love edgy styles of clothing, I have to be careful about edgy jewelry. I’m a mom so spikes are pretty much out. My kids even though they are girls, they love to climb on me and wrestle – especially my 19 month old. Spikes would be a cause to visit the ER. Maybe later on when the kids are older.
mini-nicole

Melinda Maria Mini Nicole Necklace
Retail Price: $98
Member Price: $78
This is my favorite piece this month. I love the dual facets. Very good quality necklace, unfortunately, the hook is very cheap. It’s just a hook closure, not even a claw. In order to hook and unhook, I had to bend the hook. I do think it will not hold up to every day use. For the price, it’s not worth it if it’s not going to last.

What are some pieces you received this month? Please share!
