West Elm Classic Cafe Counter Stool Dupe

by dietingfashion on March 3, 2021

I’m currently updating my kitchen and fell in love with the West Elm Classic Cafe Counter Stool. It is this rich walnut color with the Mid-Century design. We wanted a high back chair and no cushions for easy cleanups. At $199 each, it is pricey but not as expensive as other West Elm stools.

However, it is nowhere to be found in stock.

Stores have to order it. Online says 1.5 months for delivery. Say what?

Trying to find another stool to go with the aesthetic that we wanted was a challenge. Looking on Wayfair, Overstock, CB2, Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn and even Target yielded no results. It was the wrong color, or had cushions or had really bad reviews.

Luckily, searching on Target.com, showed a result for a similar stool with cushion. I pleaded with my husband to just ‘Go for it!’ He looked at the listing that said, ‘There’s an option for no cushion.’ It turned out to be a perfect dupe of the West Elm Classic Counter Stool.

It is a walnut color and is priced at $90 each. We are very happy with our chairs. It was very easy to put together. The chairs are sturdy and has adjustable feet to level the chairs.

LC Lauren Conrad Graphic Tees

by dietingfashion on May 11, 2020

Affordable tees are what I look for. As a mom of three, my style consists of basics like tees, jeans and sneakers. What I love about graphics tees is the ability to express myself with cute or savage ‘sayings’ . And I don’t have to work so hard at styling.

LC Lauren Conrad has many cute designs that can are so fun to wear. The collection has plus sizes and petite sizes too. I’m currently wearing XS in regular sizing. Always catch Kohls during Kohls Cash for more savings.

I got so many compliments while wearing this shirt. Even my savage kids said nice things. And it wasn’t even Mother’s Day.

DietingFashions Journey

by dietingfashion on October 28, 2019

In 2011, I started DietingFashions as a fashion blog. I had my second child late 2009 and I suddenly felt lost! It took me almost 2 years to lose the baby weight and it took a lot of diet and exercise to get me back on track.

Not many people knew but my mom began to develop a lump on her breast in 2011, which she masked as a bruise from when my toddler accidentally kicked her while sleeping. The lump was the size of a plum. It didn’t grow for years.

I remember that I threw myself into this blog as a creative outlet. My career was mentally taxing and my home life was exhausting with 2 kids under 4 years ago. My insecurities were growing out of control.

DietingFashions became a place I could review products, dress up and look pretty, and even earn revenue. It was a win!

I just wanted a peace of mind that I could earn a living doing what I find creative and not be burnt out. I had to find ME which seemed lost among my kids and family.

March 2011 with my kids.

In high school and college, my creative outlet was my poetry The Dead Poets’ Society. People would submit their poems and I would publish it. My greatest achievement was a group of students from Denmark submitted their poetry to my site as a class project.

So DietingFashions was an on and off blog that I maintained. I had all these ideas and stories but all remained in draft. I just could not keep up with the trends! It wasn’t me to try this trend or that. I was still put off by my body.

Why didn’t this lovely shirt fit me like it did before? Did it shrink or did I get fat? How come my feet got bigger and wider all of a sudden? Was that a clump of hair that just fell out?

Yes. My body was on strike. And I didn’t understand it any more. I felt like a failure. I felt old and miserable at 29.

Everything had a silver lining and it was my third pregnancy in 2012. She was unexpected. We were trying for our third child , but nothing for a really long time. I decided to just stop trying.

Sometimes, not stressing will bring rewards. Mid 2012, after I booked a Disney trip for the end of the year, I began to feel queasy just thinking about fish. It was the strangest thought while trying to eat this piece of tilapia and I couldn’t do it. ‘Am I pregnant?’

Yes I was. That’s also when I knew the blog had to be put on hold. Three kids running around while I wasn’t sure how mentally and physically prepared I was, the blog was definitely something I would revisit at a later time.

I do think it is time I restart my blog. My journey is ongoing. It is not only fashion but mental, physical, and even a spiritual journey. I hope you will continue this journey with me.

Cosabella Bella Pajamas

I was introduced to Cosabella pajamas through StitchFix. I knew of Cosabella as a lingerie manufacturer but never knew they created pajamas. I love the fit and the soft jersey feel. I know sometimes jersey material doesn’t last as well but after wearing the Bella pajamas for 6 months, I’m obsessed. Material is Pima cotton and modal. Machine washable but it is recommended to line dry. However the set I got from StitchFix allowed dryer and it’s held up.

Now I sleep in long sleeves and long pants to keep warm through the night. Cosabella does make short sleeves and sleep shorts for those of you who prefer that. Sizing is true to size. It did shrink a bit but not much. I do prefer that way on my petite frame.

The pajamas are expensive but I have found $45 pajama sets on Amazon. You just have to keep checking back. TIP: Save the item for later in your shopping cart. You will be alerted by Amazon when the item drops in price or increases in price. TIP#2: Sign up for a Honey account. Honey is an app that will show what the item’s price sold for within the last 30 days.

Summer Wedding Cocktail Dresses

by dietingfashion on June 24, 2019

As I’m nearing the end of my 30s, I find that more and more of my friends are getting married. HAPPY!

I find that Summer Weddings in Texas and the South, in general, are super hot and humid. Most of my friends request an attire of Cocktail. It’s not difficult to find pretty cocktail dresses but I wanted to put together a list of dresses that I find are slim fitting and stylish.
